THE EARLIEST LICENSE that WE FOUND WAS DATED 1920,
but years before that, grandfather Ignazio was already selling in his “Licinsì” wine, grappa and meat that he butchered himself. Grandfather Ignazio married Grandmother Caterina and they had five children: Diamante, Veronica, Bortolo, Maria and Lorenzo.
Our grandparents died at a young age and left the children and the activities entrusted to an aunt and a guardian.
When World War II broke out, the entire residence was requisitioned by the German Army and served as an orderlies’ area.
After the war, Diamante, Veronica and Maria, now adults, resumed their father’s activities, transforming it into a bar with attached bocce courts. The bar was known by the name “Le PÖTELE" (the girls) since it was managed by Lorenzo’s sisters.
In 1958 Lorenzo married Giacomina, and together they began the renovation of the house, calling it “BELVEDERE,” no random choice. They transformed the bar into a restaurant and then also into a hotel. Papa Lorenzo was known for his excellent singing voice and in the village the bar was also called “dal Canerì (the singers’ place).”
LORENZO AND GIACOMINA HAD THREE CHILDREN:
ATTILIA, FRANCESCO AND LUCA
Years passed, and during the period of the economic boom and the birth of mass tourism, the time came for the family to introduce themselves to the Brescians and the first Germans who came to stay at Lake Garda. In the meantime, the children grew and they began to help in the management of the restaurant, passing gradually from simple tasks to more complex ones, also according to their inclinations.
Since the 1980s, Attilia has always been present in the dining room and Francesco and Luca entered the kitchen alongside Mama Giacomina.
n 2001, after the death of Papa Lorenzo, the family began the work of the “Villa Belvedere,” our point of pride; it is a modern structure, equipped with every convenience.
Our respect for the regional cuisine and seasonal products and the experience passed on over generations support our enthusiasm for our work.
SWE ARE PROUD OF OUR LONG-TIME FAMILY TRADITION AND CARRY IT OUT WITH PASSION AND METICULOUS CARE.
SIMPLICITY IS OUR STRENGTH, WHICH GIVES US ENERGY AND PUSHES US EVERY DAY TO RENEW OURSELVES for CURRENT NEEDS, WHILE RESPECTING OUR PAST.
Perhaps if in the future our children Stefania, Riccardo and little Matteo learn to “love” and appreciate this work and take the reins of our activities that boast a hundred-year history!
